Are you too comfortable?

One of the things, I’ve said over the years is that if you’re too comfortable in your current life, than are you really a threat to the enemy?

In light of my comfortable 21st century, wealthy American lifestyle, the words of Jesus to the Laodiceans haunt me…

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. (Revelation 3:15-18, NIV)

In those moments when I am too caught up with my first world problems, I can identify with this passage. I am just doing enough to get by. I am no where near the level of pursuing God, but at the same time, I am not doing anything that resembles standing with the enemy. In these moments when I am “riding the fence,” my lack of decisiveness or action makes Jesus sick. Seriously… The word “spit” here, literally means Vomit…
Where are you at today? Are you living a life so on fire for God that you make the rest of us look bad or are you doing just enough to get by and making Jesus sick in the meantime?
With the way the world is going, its time to decide whether you’re done with this whole thing or if you are all in. I know what I’m going to do – how about you?
